Pleasant experiecnce.

We (me, wife and two kids 13 and 15) had a lovely stay at Benitses I was last there 30 years ago and remember lots of trouble, which led to bars closing early and police forever present in the resort. But it is a different place now it is quiet but not too quiet there are nice new cafes and bars that were not there in 1985. The beach is much better than it was and the locals were as charming as ever. Don’t believe all the rubbish on the news here about the impact of the financial crisis. We took all our cash with us and for anyone to suggest we could be mugged is grossly insulting to the Greek people. The old part, which I visited last time, felt strange at first because some of the bars/discos are still there with the name from 30 years ago still over the door, though in a few cases they are closed and run down (thinking of Spiros on the beach). The main road is busy but be vigilant and you will be safe, especially keep your kids close when crossing. There didn’t seem to be many Brits there but for me that is unimportant so who cares? For families and couples looking to relax in each others company I recommend Benitses but if I was 20 again going with a few mates I would say it probably isn’t the right place to go. The food was always very nice and none of the four of us ever felt unwell (though I always avoid poultry unless I prepare it at home myself). Go to to Benitses and I promise you will enjoy it very much I would certainly go there again.
